In today’s economy, going on a date can be very expensive if you are trying to have a good time. With the cost of food and social events going up, you may expect to spend at least $50 or more on a date. Here is some dating advice to help you plan an unforgettable date on a budget.

Eat on a Discount

One of the most expensive parts of a date is dinner. If you want to eat at a nice restaurant, it can be costly when paying for two people. When selecting the restaurant for your dinner date, you should check to see if they offer any type of discounts or meal specials. Most of the major restaurants run frequent menu specials that allow you get a meal at a lower cost.

Find a Public Event

You don’t have to spend a lot of money for entertainment to have a good date. Many communities offer public events such as art shows and festivals on the weekends that are either free or low in cost. If your date loves music, you should check for free concerts in your area. A public event can be a great place to have a date when using a dating website such as Parship for a first-time date.

Plan a Date Night at Home

If you have been dating someone for a while, planning a date night at your home can create an unforgettable date on a budget. You can spend some time cooking together, listening to music, and getting to know more about each other. If you are not sure how to plan your evening, try getting some advice from a good friend or family member.

Thinking of giving your bathroom a facelift? Wondering where to start? Remodeling a bathroom can seem to be a daunting experience, especially if you have never done it before.

Don’t let the fear of the unknown stop you. As long as you take time to plan everything out before you get started you will be fine.

There are websites available that are helpful in getting you moving in the right direction. One of these sites will have almost anything you need; so take time to browse their bathroom suites.

Four things to consider before taking the plunge are:

Money:

How much money do you have to work with? This is important to know up front. It will help you to decide what you are keeping or replacing. A bathroom is a costly endeavour, so keep your budget in mind as you look at items and plan what you are going to change in your bathroom suite.

Labor:

Will this be a do-it-yourselfer? Or will you hire someone to do it for you? Possibly you can do some of the work yourself and hire someone to do the things you are unfamiliar with and unqualified to do. These are all issues you need to address before beginning the job.

Fixtures:

Take a good look at what shape your fixtures are in and be sure to replace those that are in the worst condition. Make a list of your priorities so you know exactly what to do.

Time:

Have a schedule of when things will be accomplished. If you have hired someone to do the work be sure that they are finishing in a timely manner.

When the bathroom is finished you will have something you are proud of. Take the time and do it right.

Living on a budget doesn’t mean living in a world of small, dark spaces. In fact, by carefully studying the many shower enclosures that are available today, you may just find that increasing your shower space is not only easy, it is affordable.

Think Big

When you begin your search for an affordable shower enclosure, think big – even if you have a small budget. Today, there are many options available to homeowners which will not break the bank. For example, you may want to consider replacing a tub with a walk-in shower. By selecting vinyl out of the wide range of shower enclosures, you can significantly decrease the price of this upgrade. Just shop around. You may surprised at what you find at a good price. You can find new shower enclosures or beautiful bathroom cabinets or showers without the brand name price tag.

What A Shower Needs

When designing your improved shower space, take some time to consider what makes a shower ideal for you. Perhaps you will reach your goal by including shelving space in your shower, adding an extra shower head, or adding a heating element. Your shower space may be perfected without a costly remodel.

DIY

While many homeowners are afraid of do it yourself projects, there are several small projects in every bathroom remodel that almost anyone can do. After you have had your shower enclosure and cabinets installed, consider adding the plumbing and lighting fixtures yourself. Painting, grouting, and basic plumbing are great ways to keep your remodeling price down, while still creating a beautiful shower space.

There’s nothing better in today’s economy than finding a good deal. Many people who clip coupons and surf the Internet looking for great deals get a sort of “high” from finding the best deal. It’s exciting to get a great deal and save some money, especially when budgets are tight and income is running low. Did you know you can find great deals on more than just groceries or children’s clothes? In fact, you can even find awesome deals online for investment jewelry.

One piece of jewelry that many women covet is a set of Mikimoto pearls. These pearls are the epitome of high class. Even if you are only wearing your sweat pants to go to the grocery store, you can still feel well put together with gorgeous pearls.

Like most women, you want the stunning Mikimoto pearls, but you also need to stick to your budget. No problem! The great thing about these pearls is that they are indeed an investment piece. You know the old saying you get what you pay for? That’s absolutely true with Mikimoto. You are buying an investment piece of jewelry, which means you won’t be replacing this necklace for many years – maybe even ever.

If that’s not enough for you, then let’s talk about where you can find some great jewelry deals online. The first thing you can do is shop around. Check out different online jewelers to see who is offering the best deal. You can also watch for specials from online retailers around the holidays. Starting around Thanksgiving, keep your eyes open for special jewelry deals.

All women love jewelry and the way a fine piece of jewelry makes them feel. Make your love of pearls profitable through forex currency trading online. You’ll never regret investing in a nice necklace that is sure to stand the test of time. Great looking jewelry never goes out of style.

Basics to Have Around

There are always some basic tools to have around for any project that requires a DIY touch. Here is a following list to make your life easier:

Staple gun. This is the perfect uphulstry fix for many projects. This is also a great tool for those no sew curtian or frames.

Hot glue. Again, for no sew projects that need a little flair, use hot glue to either seal or to attach a pretty accessory to make your project perfect.

Screw drivers. These are key to any project as they are necessary for removing things like switch plates, pictures, or even to take apart or assemble new items.

Having the basic tools accessible for you will make starting any project the best that it can be. If you require more tools or supplies, make sure you have investigated this before starting any project. There is nothing worse than realizing you need something right when you are in a pickle. Planning makes these types of projects fun and easy.

One can combine learning and earning more money by recycling and restoring items. The best and most useful items to restore are furniture.

Used furniture can be found at auctions, flea markets, and relatives’ attics and basements. Often these items need only minor work and repair. High-end furniture is like fine wine. The older it becomes, the more likely it will move into the realm of being an antique. This makes the furniture worth reupholstering, refinishing and repairing. Interior decorators often use restored pieces to obtain the look needed for a particular room or client. Combining interior decorating courses with an upholstery and furniture restoration business is a match made in heaven. Many schools offer online classes that will provide the needed credentials for furniture restoration in only six months. A garage-sized room is all one needs to begin a profitable business.

While a person completes his or her courses in interior decorating, it is necessary to do some homework to make the furniture restoration business profitable. Learn the names of high-quality furniture brands such as Ethan Allen or Bassett and know about furniture designers such as Bob Timberlake or Raymond Goins. Studying antiques and history will point one in the most likely direction of delightful finds. Developing relationships with thrift stores, secondhand shops, auctioneers and consignment vendors will produce a steady stream of pieces. Advertising as a furniture restorer will provide numerous contacts in the local area.

High-quality furniture, cheaper pricing and working on your own terms make learning and earning a pleasure.

Did you know that it is possible to have an incredibly good-looking interior design for you house even on a limited budget.

Great décor is often a sign of well-developed taste rather than a boatload of money. With that in mind, let’s examine a great style for comfort and beauty that is also easy on the pocketbook.

One of the most dazzling looks for homes, or even shops, is an eclectic decor called “Shabby Chic”.

Shabby Chic is a style that developed from the romanticism of the Victorian Age and somehow became mixed with the Bohemian qualities of French artisans from the age of Impressionism. The style is noted for its worn, yet arty look that seems to reflect strength of taste rather than fashion. A Shabby Chic look is often filled with feminine and romantic items in dominant colors of white and pale pastels.

A lovely Shabby Chic décor can be developed from garage sale items and second hand stores, if the buyer knows what to look for. Many things from old wood furniture to glass bowls to tins can be found, if you train your eye and learn to spot desirable items. You will be surprised at the wonderful pieces that most people bypass.

Another nice thing about Shabby Chic is that most wood items can look worn or even be painted. Professional decorators, who are going for that worn Shabby Chic look, often buy new wood items and then “distress” them so they will look old and worn.

Learning to refurbish furniture and accessories is not only rewarding, these skills can also help you have the prettiest home on the block.

When you live in the same apartment or house for an extended period of time, it’s easy to get tired of your surroundings. Changing the look and feel of your home doesn’t have to break the bank, yet significant improvements can be made during your budget decorating journey. Here are some tips on how to still be fashionable while saving money!

Painting is the first step. There is nothing that will change the look and feel of a room more than a coat of paint. If you’ve been dealing with tan or white for what seems an eternity, mix it up with something maroon, forest green, or even a decorative orange. Cost of a gallon of paint? Under $20.

Add plants, paintings, or pictures to your home. There is something about a living, breathing plant in your home that just spices everything up. Buy them small and you can get three or four potted plants for around $25. With advances in digital photography, the cost of printing family photos is significantly cheaper than it used to be. Shop for decorative planters with a splash of color, or picture frames that add substance to your personal style, by visiting sites like http://www.offers.com.

Refurbish used furniture. Sometimes you don’t need new items, you just need to give the ones you have a facelift. Putting a cloth cover over your kitchen chairs or your favorite living-room chair is inexpensive and can completely change the look of a room. Summertime is a great time to canvas the neighborhood during those infamous garage sales. Sometimes another man’s trash can be an absolute treasure, and saving money truly can be fashionable.

There are plenty of ways you can add your own personal touch to the interior design of your home. You don’t need to spend thousands to hire an interior designer to make your house into a stylish home. Being your own interior designer will allow you more freedom and will allow you to express yourself more than you would by hiring an interior designer.

Here are some tips for bringing a personal touch to the interior design of your home.

There are many options available for decorating your walls. You can especially add a personal touch on this surface. You can create an interesting collage of favorite photos by putting them in different sized frames and creating a cluster at eye level on sections of wall.

If you aren’t that much into photo’s you can still add color to your walls. Maybe you don’t want to take the plunge and paint or wallpaper an entire section of wall. If this is the case you can take three of the same sized canvasses and paint them indifferent colors or cover them in a favorite wallpaper to add a highlight to a wall without committing too much to a style or color.

Memorabilia is also a way to add a personal touch to the interior of your home. Maybe you have some cherished items bought whilst on holiday or some family heirlooms. Bring them out of the closet and incorporate them in a stylish way into your homes design.

Being your own interior designer can be a rewarding experience and can bring warmth to your home by adding a personal touch to its interior design.

If you find that your house or apartment needs a face lift, it could be time to redecorate. Many of us are currently on fairly tight budgets, but giving your home a new look doesn’t always mean that you have to spend a fortune. Many redecorating ideas are quite inexpensive, and by using your imagination, the entire house (or a single room), can take on a beautiful new look.

One of the most common redecorating ideas, especially when funds are limited, is to apply a fresh coat of paint. Repainting tends to make the whole room look new and fresh. Depending on which colors you use, the room may even take on a larger appearance. Forrent.com can help with suggestions if you are unsure about what colors would be appropriate.

Keep in mind that you may want to choose colors that are neutral if you plan to put the house, or condo, on the market. If you’ve always wanted to paint your kitchen bright yellow or red, that’s great as long as you plan to stay there for an extended amount of time. Otherwise, try to choose colors that are more tame, such as antique white or a light cream color. Not only do these colors match nearly everything else, but they will make the room look more inviting, homey, and larger. Darker colors will make the room look smaller and can actually leave a potential home buyer feeling a bit depressed.

Shopping at certain thrift stores enables you to support job placement programs for disabled and otherwise disadvantaged persons What better way to enhance your lifestyle while helping others?

Reconditioned, recycled and pre-owned “vintage” items are “hot” and great for your fashion sensibility and home decor. You demand one-of-a-kind couture, and what better place to find it than in a resale environment?

Savvy shoppers concerned with budget decorating and the latest in trends will want to visit local thrift stores to take advantage of the latest offerings. The excitement? You NEVER KNOW what you may find – clothing, appliances, furniture, household items and a lot more — at an incredible value. Let it be your dirty little secret - it may be “old” for someone else, but it’s new for you!

You may even, in your quest, discover exclusive name-brands designer fashions, jewelry, gowns, antiques and other treasures. It’s the excitement of the hunt that makes it all worth it, and lends you that special “rush”.

Shopping includes, but is not limited to: decorative items, antiques, painting, books, electronics, clothing, collectibles, handbags, sports equipment, jewelry, craft items, ceramics, seasonal items, and toys. New items as well as slightly used line the shelves. Sometimes just a dusting off is all that is required for antiques to display their real beauty upon arrival home.

Fashionistas everywhere are enjoying their hauls from local Goodwill’s, Salvation Army Stores, and consignement shops. Join the frenzy and shop with both your budget and the latest fashion in mind!

Keeping up with current trends in fashion can be very difficult when you are on a budget, but never fear, there are tips and tricks to keep you looking good without draining your bank account.

First, invest in a few pieces that can be worn in multiple ways. For example, a black skirt can be worn with any number of different shirts, as opposed to a print that limits your possibilities. Another plus to investing in simple pieces is that they can be worn for years, unlike trendy patterns that might be “out” in a year or less.

Second, a few fun accessories are an excellent way to add interest to your wardrobe. Finding versatile accessories that can be worn with a variety of outfits can help you look stylish for less. Inexpensive accessories can be found at shops like Forever 21, which always has the latest trends in accessories for a fraction of department store prices.

A third way to save money while looking great is to shop around. Know the dates of the annual sales at your favorite stores when you can snatch up pieces you might not otherwise have the budget for. The Budget Babe is a website that can help you shop for deals in stores near you. Also be sure to check secondhand shops and rummage sales as they can hide treasures when you dig deep.

Following these tips is a sure way to look great without breaking the bank and will help you to keep your wardrobe fresh year after year.

Fashion is a very pliable part of a person’s life. When you dress fashionably, people look at you differently. But the different types of fashion you can choose each convey a different kind of mood and personality type. You need to keep this in mind, and pattern how you dress according to how you want to be perceived. What may be appropriate for work or school may not look so great in the club or on a date. By the same token, your date night outfit may be wholly wrong for anything where formality is the rule.

You can do a lot to be both fashionable and true to yourself. For some women, a pretty dress couples nicely with tennis shoes and jeans for a slightly bohemian, extremely relaxed look that still comes off as very cute. You don’t have to reveal any more than you want to be attractive and mixing and matching is how individual style is defined.

Some other ways to put together your own personal style are called street and runway. The difference between these two is in how refined they are. Runway styles are very upscale, and are usually composed of very clean lines. By contrast, street styles tend to have clashing elements, bolder colors and are often designed to make you look tough. Think about what you’d wear to go watch an illegal street race and you’ll get the idea of the vibe you want to put off. Street style says you’re a little dangerous. Runway fashions say you’re high class, and that you won’t settle for anything less than the best that’s out there.

All you have to do is type your query in the search engines, and you will find page after page of results that will provide you with DIY information. Then, you will need to look through the various pages, until you find a guide that explains the tasks clear enough to you.

2. Watch TV. Depending on what it is you need to do, there are certain TV stations that will provide a great wealth of DIY information. You can learn anything from how to fix a pipe to learning how to bake a cake. On these TV stations, the sky is the limit, and all guides are very well detailed.

3. You Can Purchase Books. There are a number of well written books on the market that will provide you with any DIY information that you need to know. You can purchase these books at your local bookstore or online. Many of these books are relatively affordable.

Purchasing refurbished accessories is always nice. Refurbished accessories enable individuals to save money, as they are considerably cheaper than the accessories that are purchased brand new. Refurbished accessories are always good to get in a pinch. But if you are planning to purchase refurbished accessories, there are some things that you really need to know before you buy.

When you are purchasing refurbished accessories, you need to make sure that they are working properly before you leave the store. Tell the store workers that you need to test everything out before you buy. If they will not allow you to test, then it is time to get suspicious. Most that are confident in the condition of these refurbished accessories will have no problem with you testing them while you are in the store unless, of course, you live in a super bad neighborhood and robberies are commonplace.

Another thing that you will need to know when purchasing refurbished accessories is if there are any scratches and nicks on them. You need to make sure the products are not beat up to high heaven before you spend your hard earned money.

Finally, you need to find out if there is any sort of guarantee, warranty, or return policy on these refurbished accessories. You want to cover your but, just in case anything should go wrong. In addition, you will need to keep your receipt. Do not throw your receipt away, until you can no longer return it to the store.

When you get all of the necessary information that you need, your purchase of refurbished accessories will go smoothly. You will save lots of money and have products that you feel pleased about.

Life is so chaotic. You feel like you are running in all different directions. Money is going out faster than you make it. Life events all seem to occur at the same time, and the stress is tremendous! You feel like you are minutes away from bursting. The good news is that you do not have to live like this on a continuous basis. By employing 3 lifestyle simplification tips, you can simplify your life and live a bit more peacefully.

1. Get Rid of Unnecessary Expenses. Getting rid of all of your unnecessary expenses is the first step to simplifying your life. Sit down and write all of your expenses down on a list of paper. Then organize them from most important to least important. Then start checking off all of the ones you can absolutely sacrifice.

2. Plan a Schedule. Another way that you can make your lifestyle one that is simple and easy is to plan a schedule and stick to it. When you are planning this schedule, you do not want to plan no more than 3 big things or 5 small things to do in a day. Planning any more than that will be completely overwhelming.

3. Get Rid of All Clutter. In order to get rid of any chaos in your life, you will need to get rid of all of the clutter. Go through your house and find all of the things that you do not need. You can throw it away, sell it, or give it to those who are less fortunate.

Implementing these 3 lifestyle simplification tips will be incredibly difficult at first. But what is awesome is that it does get easier with time.

A number of people feel that since they live on a tight budget, they are not able to decorate their houses to look nice. This is actually far from the truth. Many improvise and make the best with what they have in order to decorate their homes. They refuse to allow money to get in the way. If you want to join the club and decorate your home, then you will find the below 3 budget decorating tips to be helpful.

1. Purchase Throw Rugs and Table cloths. Throw rugs and table cloths can really enhance a room. Throw rugs and table cloths can give the room a cozy and inviting appearance. They can also fit in very nicely with a theme. For instance, if you want to decorate a room with the sun moon and stars.
2. Get New Curtains. When you purchase new curtains or make them yourself, you can cause a room to look entirely different. The type and color of curtains that you use can cause a room to look big or small. You can even use curtains to make a room look warm and inviting. If you would like a room to have a specific theme, you can get curtains that will fit in with that theme nicely.

3. Use Fixtures. Wen decorating, you can use fixtures to top off the theme of the room that you are decorating. For example, when you are decorating a living room, you can use some nice candle holders to finish things off. If you are decorating a dining room, you can purchase cheap but luxurious wine glasses to sit in the middle of the dining room table for show.

Online shopping is a craze all over the world, but that doesn’t mean it’s as easy as it might seem. There is a difference between shopping and getting the most for your money. Many people spend hours every week online looking for the perfect fashion items for their wardrobe; yet, every week they are missing out on hundreds of dollars in savings.

The key to good online shopping is knowing where to look and what for. For instance, the first thing that a fashion-conscious person who is looking for great saving should do is find an online blog, like this, as a way to stay in touch with the latest deals. There are plenty of blogs out there that put all their efforts toward saving you money. They are interested in you coming to the site, and to thank you, they will offer you the very best information on money saving tips for fashions sites all over the world.

Of course, the next thing is making sure that your information is safe online. With so many different retailers and so many websites that don’t have the best security, there is no way of knowing what website to trust. The best option is finding a way to ensure that your personal information won’t be stolen or compromised.

The easiest way to do that is through prepaid credit cards. These cards are great because they are not hooked up to personal information, and they cannot be stolen for more than what is on the card.

These are some of the ways that you can get the most out of your online shopping experience. Getting a great deal and being secure aren’t time consuming when you consider the payoff of having a safe and affordable online experience. Then it’s worth its weight in gold.

Every year, new fashions hit the runway. As the seasons change, you can expect to see the racks at your favorite stores to change. Being in fashion is fairly easy, even on a budget. A good fashion sense will keep you from spending too much money. You can easily copy your favorite styles with more affordable clothing. Of course, if you can afford designer labels and that is what you want, then you should buy them. For most people, designer labels are too expensive but being in fashion is still feasible.

When the seasons change, try to buy what you can from the clearance racks. You can often find great deals on clothes from a previous season. When the season rolls around again, you can mix and match items to create new outfits. Shopping discount stores will also save you money. The point of shopping in affordable places is to buy a variety of clothes that you can wear with other clothes. You can copy your favorite looks with ease by mixing and matching your clothes. You do not have to buy an entire outfit to create a look.

Another way to stay in fashion is to let your home reflect your personal tastes. Do not spend all of your money on clothes and leave your home neglected. Divide your time, money and style between your clothing and your interior design. You can shop the same discount stores for different items of décor for your home. Again, you do not have to buy a set of items. Instead, buy individual pieces, then, mix and match them the same way you do with your clothes. Not only will you have unique touches around your home, you will also save lots of money. Adding fashion to your clothes and your home will let people know that you appreciate looking good and saving a dollar, too!

When you talk about the Fashion District, some people may not yet know what you are talking about. Simply put, the Fashion District in Toronto, Canada is the place to be, if you want to check out the hottest styles out there, and be among the earliest adopters of what is going to be hot this season, this year and maybe even next. With a rich history that stretches back to the idea of integrating producing clothes with selling them directly to the customers, the Toronto Fashion District is a great place to hang out, be seen and do some great shopping for the clothes that everybody else is going to wish they had.

Long ago, there were a lot of clothing manufacturing plants at about Spadina Avenue and King Street. At some point, a few of these manufacturers, looking for additional revenue streams that did not involve using a retailer, began to allow some shoppers to pick up clothes directly. This trend slowly led to the transformation of the Clothing District (where clothes were just made) into the Fashion District (where style is born). In this day and age, the Fashion District is more than just a place where people go to buy clothing. It has transformed itself into a center of culture, where the fashion elite go to outfit itself with the very best on the market.

Speaking of what is on the market, in a lot of cases major designers will actually sell their wares directly, cutting out some of the middleman (major store) markups. This benefits them because it allows them to work their will through the Fashion District (which has a major worldwide influence nowadays), and it lets the savvy fashionista get their swag on for a lower price than it would normally be. If you have any desire to look your best, and be surrounded by other like-minded people, get the Canada 411 on this fashion Mecca.

When it is time to choose new decorations for your home, you will face many choices. There are so many styles you can choose. The style of your home depends on your personal style. If you are a fashionable person, your home will reflect this taste. Interior design can be complicated but if you just take your time, you can design your home to suit your personal tastes.

One of the important factors to consider is the added touches of flair. Flair can be anything that shows your personality and your character. Shopping for flair depends on what you like. Some people like art. Original pieces of art can cost a lot of money. However, you can buy copies for a much more affordable price. You can also buy prints of your favorite paintings. By purchasing copies and prints, you can show off your love of art without spending thousands of dollars on artwork.

Another way to add flair and save money is to shop secondhand. Flea markets, thrift stores, yard sales, and other places where people sell used items are great places to find good deals. You can even find antiques for cheap. Simply have the antiques restored and you will have classic furniture for a low price. Quality used items have a character of their own. Just because something is used does not mean it is junk. With a careful eye, you can find unique items that will add their character to your home.

Finally, add some flair with color. Many people are afraid of using too much color in their home. Remember that it is your home and should be decorated the way you like it, not the way others like it. Flashes of color here and there will bring life to your home. Find creative ways to add color, such as throw pillows, flowers and contemporary art.

When your home needs a makeover and you do not have the money to afford an interior decorator, you can always do it yourself. There are several ways you can make the interior of your home seem like a new place without spending thousands of dollars. The following tips are easy to do and cost a minimal amount of money. You will be amazed by how nice your home looks after a few basic changes.

•	Remove all the clutter. Even though this might not qualify as decorating, getting rid of the clutter is one of the easiest ways to give your home a fresh look. Clean off the counter-tops, the top of the refrigerator and all the other “catch-all” places. Add a vase of fresh flowers here and there and your home will be rejuvenated.

•	Fresh paint. A fresh coat of paint will do wonders for making your home look better. Choose light colors to keep the rooms open and spacious. Paint is quite affordable and easy to apply on your own.

•	Change the window coverings. If your window coverings are outdated or discolored, change them. Avoid plain, horizontal blinds. Instead, opt for sheer or light-colored drapes. Be sure and clean the windows when you change the coverings.

•	New flooring. New flooring is another easy and affordable way to breathe new life into your home. Vinyl for the kitchen and bathroom is not expensive and comes in a variety of patterns. Depending on your preference, you can install new carpet or wood flooring in other parts of your home. New floors will quickly jazz up your home.

•	Reupholster your furniture. If you cannot afford new furniture, consider reupholstering your existing furniture. You can also buy ready-made slip covers and give your couches, arm chairs and dining room chairs a new look.

Use your creative side and come up with other inexpensive ways to decorate your home. For just a few hundred dollars, your home will look like a different place.

Being fashionable takes work. It is more than just wearing the right clothes. Your fashion sense has to carry over to your home. You can be well dressed, wearing the latest styles and driving the newest car. However, if your home is in a state of disarray, this is going to reflect on you. Being fashionable encompasses the big picture. If you pride yourself on being in style, make sure your home makes the same statement!

If you have a limited income, you already know that is possible to be fashionable on a budget. The same is true for your home. You can have a home that is modern and stylish without spending a fortune. You just have to use your common sense. Instead of shopping at expensive stores or websites that only offer one-of-a-kind items for outrageous prices, try shopping discount stores. Even your local home improvement store offers good deals on various items for decoration. While the items may not be unique, you can always paint them or add other personal touches to make them yours.

To really make your home personal, consider making some of your home accessories. Craft stores have a myriad of items that you can use to make handmade pieces for your home. The little touches are what give your home character. By creating something with your own two hands, you will be adding your own character. You will also have the pleasure of receiving all the compliments from visitors on your amazing craft work.

If you are not a crafty person, just use your best judgment when buying things for your home. Keep the décor of each room limited to one theme so that you will not create a hodgepodge mess! Another tip is to have the same theme throughout adjoining rooms. It gives the illusion of more space and keeps the rooms connected, making the design flow easily throughout your home.

If you have a great sense of style when it comes to your clothes, you just might have a natural talent for interior decorating. Interior decorating is all about creating an atmosphere that fits the room and the people in the home. Interior decorating is about designs, colors, and making a room come to life. A drab room is boring. With the right design, you can turn that room into a place where everyone wants to be!

If you have never dabbled in interior design, do not be timid! This is your chance to turn your home into a place that reflects you. You want your personality to shine through in each room of your home. If this seems a bit complicated, relax. It is easy. You know what you like and what you want your home to look like. Just take those ideas and make them happen. If you always wanted a yellow kitchen, get painting! Just temper your creative thinking with some logic. Instead of choosing a bright yellow that may quickly wear on your nerves, choose a more subtle yellow. Then, if you get bored with the color, you can change the room’s accessories and have a completely new look.

If you are afraid of messing up and making your home look disastrous, just breathe. There is nothing that you can do to your home that you cannot undo later. Even if you choose the wrong paint, you can always paint over it. It may take a little more time to fix mistakes, but nothing is permanent. This is your chance to shine and let your home shine, too. Interior design is not just for the professionals. The experienced and the inexperienced can have great, personal success with decorating. Even as an amateur, you can still create the home and atmosphere that you always wanted but did not know how to acquire.

When you a decorating your home, accessories are important. Many people focus more on the color of the paint and the big pieces of furniture. The accessories are essential because they help hold everything together. Accessories tie the furniture and the colors together, making the room flow. Without accessories, you will only have painted walls and furniture. With accessories, you will create the ideal atmosphere in the room, making it practically come to life.

There are many accessories you need for your home. Lamps, decorations and art are just a few common accessories. Decorations can include everything from vases of fresh-cut flowers to baskets of potpourri. Think of accessories as the finishing touches to each room. You can buy new accessories or refurbished ones. If you cannot afford brand new items, refurbished is a good choice. Refurbished simply means that an item has been repaired and is in working condition again. Lamps and clocks are good examples of refurbished accessories.

When you have the initial design plan of your room, including paint and furniture, you can start adding accessories. You want to add just the right amount. There is a fine line between too many accessories and not enough. Too many and your room is crowded, cramped and busy. Too few and your room lacks personality. Accessories are a great way to add your personality to a room. Do not be afraid to use a bit of flair in the form of brightly colored throw pillows or unique pieces of art.

As you add these final touches to your room, get the opinions of your family and friends. Pay attention to what they like and dislike. Although the final decision is yours, knowing what other people think will help you make the best choices. You want your home to be personal but not flamboyant, offensive or mismatched. With the right accessories, you will have a home that flows from room to room.

There are many times when you walk through your house and the ideas start flying about what you’d like to do to improve the space. You may be thinking of knocking down a wall to open up a room, putting on a deck, building a shed, or adding on a new room. No matter how big or small your dreams are, there is home improvement help out there to help you make your dreams come true.

Your local library is a great resource for home improvement projects. You can go there and browse tons of books on the subject. Find designs and plans for the specific project you are working on, all for free. Take the book home with you to use as you complete your project. Then, simply return the book when you are done. Not only are you saving money by not buying the book yourself, but you are stopping clutter from entering your home because you can give the book back to the library when you are finished.

Another great way to get some home improvement help is to go online. The Internet is chock full of resources on anything you can imagine and even things you can’t. What is good about researching home improvement projects online is that you are in the comfort of your own home, and you can go at your own pace. If you find something you like, you can print it out, without having to take an entire book with you.

Besides free plans and project information, the Internet will also provide a lot of free tools, like material estimators and measurement conversion charts. These are all handy tools to have when doing both large and small projects.

Lastly, ask one of your buddies who may be experienced in carpentry or home improvement projects. Better yet, invite a few friends over, fire up the grill and take out the beer and have a home improvement project party!

HomeGoods is a wonderful store that offers everything you can think of in the realm of home accessories. The merchandise is always changing, is always unexpected, and is always incredible. On top of all that, the prices are so low you’ll want to fill up your cart. There are products for every designer’s taste and every homeowner’s style, at a price that anyone can afford.

HomeGoods is a retail store that is very large, filled with one-of-a-kind home fashions like dishes and tableware, art and wall décor, holiday decorations, kitchen gadgets, picture frames, rugs, lighting, bed & bath items, furniture, and more. Customers will find everything from the basics to the luxurious, without breaking the bank. Carts are provided to make the customer’s shopping experience more relaxed and enjoyable. Nice music is filtered into the store to add to the ambiance.

What is really great about HomeGoods, besides the awesome merchandise, are the prices. All items are priced between 20 and 60 percent off department store and specialty store prices. There are no special sale dates; these prices are good every day. Couple the already reduced prices with a coupon to save even more.

Before shopping at HomeGoods, look online for coupon codes and discounts. Even though their prices are already super low, it never huts to try and save even more money. Also check the weekly flyers as once in a while you might be surprised to find a HomeGoods coupon in there.

HomeGoods does not have an online store, but it’s worth it to take a trip to the nearest location. What they do have is a nice website that provides suggestions and tips on how to decorate your home. In the bedroom section of the website, thread counts are discussed, the different kids of pillows for each kind of sleeper, and even instructions on how to make the perfect bed!

Did you know that Amazon lists a bunch of really big discounted items every day? Amazon isn’t just about books, they have a lot of great items there, like clothes, toys, tools, craft items, collectibles, and more. These discounts are great for people that normally wouldn’t otherwise be able to purchase that product. Each day, new products are featured with a deeply discounted price. When the stock is gone, so is the deal.

Deals are posted every day in the electronics category, software category, shoes, DVDs, and more. There are always a few great items that are on sale, from socks to music to remote controlled cars. Some items are toys, but most items are for grownups.

A snapshot of one day’s Amazon Best Deals is a children’s software package for $2.99, regularly priced at $19.99, a year of Cosmopolitan magazine for only $5.00, regularly priced at $51.49 and a pink diamond fancy heart necklace for $549.99 that used to cost $2985.00. But the biggest discount on today’s Amazon Daily Deals is the Invicta Men’s Russian Diver watch, regularly priced at $895.00, this watch is now on sale for only $79.99, which is 91 percent off the original price.

Then, we have Lightning Deals, which is basically the same as the deal of the day, but there are limited supplies of these items, so they sell out quickly. There are about 5 Lightning Deals posted a day, and most of them sell out by 10:00 am, and the rest of them usually sell out by dinner time.

There are also free songs listed on Amazon. The MP3 formatted free song of the day can be downloaded to your computer or MP3 player, and each day there is a new free song. During holidays, the free song is typically something that goes with the special day.

If you are like most Americans these days you are looking for bargains. You don’t buy things that you want, only things that you need. And, if something special happens and you do get to buy something you want, it must be on sale to make it worth it. When you are looking to buy something new, before you hand over your cash or credit, compare prices to find the best deal.

There are many sites online that allow shoppers to compare prices before they buy. This is a very important step in bargain shopping. We don’t want to spend any more money than we need to, so we wait until we can find rock bottom prices, then splurge on that wanted item.

Once we’ve compared prices, now venture out and look for coupon codes for that store with the lowest price. This will give you an even deeper discount. Most coupon codes are a combination of letters and numbers that can be entered in a special field during the check-out process. Have a few coupon codes ready, if available, because some stores let you use multiple coupon codes. These usually give a percentage off the price as well as free shipping.

Online shopping is very convenient. You can shop online at any time of the day or night. You can shop while in your pj’s and slippers. After you’ve placed your order, simply sit back and wait for the package to arrive. You never have to leave home. And, what is the best part, is that a lot of times, the prices found online are cheaper than local retail and department stores.

If you do want to go into a store, it is still a good idea to compare prices. Look at several different stores before making your decision on larger and expensive items. With a little planning, you can save a pretty petty.

There are many people willing to tackle a home project on their own, calling it a Do It Yourself, or DIY project. Some people do it to save money while others simply want the satisfaction that comes with creating something. Some do it for work and some do it for pleasure. No matter how you came into the wonderful world of DIY projects and home improvements, you will find unlimited resources on the Internet.

With a simple Google search, you will find millions of DIY projects of various skill levels and time lengths. If you are looking for a one day project to fix a door or patch a wall, you can find instructions online. If you are looking for a weekend project, such as building a new backyard deck, you will find instructions online. If you are adding on a family room, you can check out some plans on how to get it done.

In addition to getting instructions and project plans online, there are a lot of other useful tools. There are conversion charts to help you measure and covert figures between various types of measurements, like inches to meters. And, there are wizards that you can use to help plan out your project to fit your home.

If you run into trouble while completing a DIY project, run to the nearest computer and find some fixes. If you made the mistake, there are hundreds of other people that made the same mistake. The odds are good that at least one of them had to have posted a fix online.

If you are more of a chatty person looking for like-minded people, do a search for DIY groups and message boards. Share tips and tricks with others. Support each other during your DIY projects. Share before and after pictures. And, share your advice so the next person that does that project don’t make the same mistakes that you did.

Most women carry around some sort of purse or pocketbook to hold various important items, including money, cell phone, lipstick and a diaper or two. To many women, a purse is an extension of their personality or their mood. There are ladies that use the same pocketbook day after day, year after year, until there is a hole in the bottom. Others change purses like they change their socks. When such a small item has so much responsibility, is it more than just an accessory?

Yes, a lot of ladies will agree that a pocketbook is more than just an accessory. It can be a status symbol, a way to carry your money, a place to hide a snack, or just a little something to bring out the color in your eyes. With so many varying needs that a purse must meet, and so many different tastes in style from the women that carry a purse, there are unlimited types of purses and pocketbooks available.

Those with a larger budget are more likely to spend their money on designer purses, like Coach, D & G, Guess, and Prada. Women that can’t afford the designer purses will find cheaper alternatives at department stores. These pocketbooks are not always made with the best materials, but they do their job and are often in the latest shapes and styles.

The recent boom in the demand for designer purses has caused an influx in knockoffs. These are fake versions of a designer bag, sold at a fraction of the price of an original. These purses are for those women that want the designer look, without the designer price tag. Another alternative would be to purchase used designer purses from consignment shops or online classifieds.

No matter what price you can spend on a pocketbook, look for sales and coupon codes to reduce the price as much as possible. Then, enter the code when requested during checkout.

It may seem like a silly notion, but reducing the amount of clutter and stuff filling the nooks and crannies of your abode can be the quickest and longest lasting cure for money shortages.

Let’s face it; there are some things we can not go without. We aren’t going to get rid of the refrigerator and the television and internet are probably here to stay.

However, do we really need a cabinet in the corner of the dining room to hold the collection of milk glass butterdishes we’ve fished out of antique stores across America?

Or how about the storage shed out back. That was meant to hold the lawnmower and now it’s stacked with the totes full of comic books and electronics chords. And we are probably going to consider purchasing something in the near future which will end up hidden amidst the rest of the detritus.

Instead of this cycle take one easy step towards a new philosophy on usage and needs versus wants. Inspect each room in your home and consider its use. If it’s a bedroom, should it also have a table? If you need that table to hold stuff you never use, could that space be more effective left empty?

There is a prevailing philosophy in the world that a cluttered existence without can lead to a cluttered reality within. So having to slowly open the drawers in order to prevent a cascade of nick-knacks might be gradually leading to a more stressful existence. Clear the top off those furniture items. Get rid of the ones you don’t use.

Likewise when you are choosing new furniture items, try to reuse something that old or choose something that will last. It’s the same philosophy behind using a metal razor instead of a disposable, in that it reduces the amount of waste and wasted energy in the world.

The cold weather is upon us and keeping our feet warm is a necessity. One of the more popular options for winter footwear is Ugg Boots. Uggs are boots made of sheepskin, and crafted in Australia. They are high quality and so comfortable and warm that socks are not needed! Because of the luxurious materials and craftsmanship that is used to manufacture these beauties, Ugg boots are pretty expensive.

Don’t let the high price of Ugg boots persuade you against obtaining a pair of your own. In this case, the Internet is your friend. The next time you have a few minutes, open your laptop or pull up your office chair and start researching.

There are many price comparison websites in which you can enter a product name and the software will generate a list of websites that sell that product, along with their selling price. Look them over and visit several sites. Of course, you are looking for the deepest discount, but one store might have a cheaper selling price and huge shipping fees where as another store might have a lithe hire price, but free shipping. You may be surprised that the best deal isn’t always the cheapest priced.

Another important step in finding great deals for Ugg boots online is to look for coupon codes. Simply enter a search term, like “Ugg boots coupon codes” into your favorite browser search box. You will then receive a list of many websites offering coupon codes for online shopping. Find the code with the biggest discount value. You will want to look at a few different coupon sites to find the best deal.

Some coupon codes are a combination of letters and numbers that can be entered during checkout. Other discounts are provided when the customer access the store website through a special link and the discount is automatically applied during checkout.

Sometimes the biggest and best change anyone can make in a room is to improve or update the lighting. From taking down the old outdated hanging lamp with the chained chord reaching through the dining room, to installing a ceiling fan and light combination in the bedroom the lighting is always an important factor.

And changing a light fixture doesn’t have to be a complicated process. All lights work on the same principal of electric current and switches and are going to be hooked up in essentially the same manor.

The hardest part is often picking out which light fixture for which specific room. A good rule to remember inside the home is that indirect lighting and diffused lighting are often considered the most soothing. While in the workroom you might way a dozen banks of fluorescent bulbs, that’s not the best choice for the living room.

The most common way to diffuse or redirect light is throught he use of a shade. An opaque shade, or one where there is little to no light coming through is going to cast light in one or two directions typically. The relfection of that light off of the walls and ceilings is what lights the area.

A semi-opaque shade will let more of the light shine in all directions and will in general be brighter. The same is true for ceiling fixtures. In large rooms it’s often a good idea to allow the bulbs to shine directly into the room and then use a rheostat or dimmer switch to change the level of the lighting. A common method for using this type of setup is to install a series of recessed lights in the ceiling and have them all attached to dimmers.

Finally consider what level of watts per bulb is best for the purpose of the room.

Adding a stone walkway between buildings on your property, or along the edge of structures can not only add function and form to a homestead it can also preserve your lawn.

And a great way to add the element of a stone walkway is to use reclaimed stone or slabs, or even paver bricks. While all of these items are available at the local hardware or home improvement mega store, they are also often available locally if you know where to look.

Certain residents in the midwest know this secret, and look to the left over chunks of slab from limestone mills to enhance their flower beds, or to mark walkways. Many times stone mills will have piles of leftover slabs, and flat cuts of rectangular rock which they will allow people to haul away for free. These types of stone pieces are ideal for making edging around landscaping and creating walkways.

The main thing to remember is to choose stone pieces which are of relatively the same thickness, otherwise there is going to be a lot of individual digging and refitting, and that can mean a lot more work than it’s worth.

Using reclaimed stone can inevitably mean more work than if you go to the store and purchase uniform stones. But, it’s also going to save money and using stone from the environment around you promotes sustainability and reduces waste and energy costs.

Once the stone is chosen lay it out in a rough pattern to see how everything is going to fit. Using a Shovel dig a few inches deeper into the soil than the thickness of the stone pavers. Fill that gap with sand using a level and a board make it even.

Finally knock each piece into place with a rubber mallet and sweep sand thoroughly into the margins.

One of the most durable floor coverings out there is ceramic tile. Not only is it tough to damage and highly stain resistant, thanks to new manufacturing methods tile can come in nearly any shape, pattern or color imaginable.

When looking at purchasing, refurbishing or updating a home or a piece of investment real estate, ceramic flooring can be a good option if you are willing to do the work. A lot of the cost of any flooring is in the labor and tile is no different.

A lot of home improvement stores like Lowes and Home Depot will have a pallet or two of a matching type of tile at any given time that is marked down to a reasonable price. Something around $1 per square foot, so about a $1 per tile is a really reasonable price.

And that’s for simple ceramic tile, not granite or marble. For those types of floor tile you are going to spend easily four to ten times as much, and that’s still considered a really good price.

But back to the ceramic there is usually an item that’s going out or was a special order which never went out. Just keep your eyes open.

When it comes to laying small rooms, start in the first, most easily noticeable corner and wall a person will see when walking into the room. Use that as a starting point for laying out your pattern.

Always make sure you have a nice, even subfloor which is appropriate for the bonding agent you will choose. Clean the floor, and then mark your pattern with a chalk line. You can spray the chalk line with hair spray to keep it from wiping away.

Finally use spacers in between each tile, facing in all four directions. If you follow your lines and take your time the payoff of a nice tile floor is definitely worth the work.

Thanks to whoever came along and decided to end the fad of lathering a wall with superglue and blanketing it with some rooster and hay bail pattern. At long last the age of wallpaper in homes is coming to a gradual and overdue end. While some remnants hold on in the form of heavy-duty stain resistant industrial wallpaper, the modern and common thing to do now is to paint.

And painting is essentially the easiest and simplest thing you can do to a wall, barring doing nothing at all. In homes from the very modest to the incredibly expensive, the right combination of paint colors can really complete the look of a home.

A few things to remember and consider when you get started is to pick a color that you are not going to get tired of and which will compliment what you have in your home. While you might be a big fan of the color canary yellow, painting a kitchen that bright and strong of a color can be distracting and even mentally offensive.

Also keep in mind the adjacent rooms and what color they are going to be. It’s common to reuse a color throughout a floor and then choose certain doorways, walls or other elements to add individual showcase colors.

Another consideration is whether or not to use matte or gloss paint. A flat paint is going to give a really nice, classical look to any room and will help diffuse light lessening glare. It is also going to show dirt a lot easier and is going to be a little tougher to keep clean.

Gloss paint, on the other hand, is going to reflect more light, show dirt less and be easier to clean. Many homes today are still using gloss paint, especially in high-traffic areas.

One of the simplest and easiest things to overlook when considering a repair or install job on drywall is the amount of mess even a small job can create. And most of the mess doesn’t come from the drywall compound going up. Most of the mess comes after the Spackle and putty-knife work is done and the sanding has begun.

That said it’s a good idea to quarantine the area you are going to be working in, if at all possible. Remove whatever smaller decorative and furniture items you can from the area. Whatever is left should be covered either with a sheet or with some other material. You can also use plastic which is available in sheets or rolls at most hardware or home renovation stores.

If you are repairing small gouges in drywall the process is pretty simple. Also available at the hardware store will be a drywall repair compound. It’s usually in a small bucket or pail with a resealable lid. Inside you will find a white pasty substance which will spread on to a wall fairly easily. After you have sanded the damaged area smooth of all rough edges and any pieces sticking out, apply an even coat of compound to the area with a putty knife. Sometimes it’s easier to use a knife with a very broad edge. This gives you more control over the area of the compound and makes it easier to press everything flat.

If you are repairing a larger section requiring a section of drywall to be added, be sure to know where the studs are on the back side of the wall. Using a Fein Multi-master utility power tool, or something similar, it’s easy work to cut along a stud to remove a section of drywall and then simply match the same size section back in.

Are you tired of buying an expensive pair of jeans only to have them pop a button or bust a seam the first time you wear them? You’re definitely not alone! With the prices that many retailers charge today, you should be able to expect a piece of clothing to last forever! Many of us would even like our bargain items to do the same thing. Let’s take a look at how some brands are bringing value and quality to today’s marketplace.

From Hip-Hop to Mainstream

Created by hip-hop star Nelly and a few of his associates, Apple Bottom jeans were intended to offer affordable fashion choices to women with curves. Their philosophy was to create jeans that fit the woman instead of forcing the woman to change to fit the clothing. In a fashion industry that catered to catwalk-thin models, this was a welcome change. Although Apple Bottom clothing is made to stand up to night after night of hip-hop dancing at the club, they are priced to be affordable for any woman. In fact, if your budget can accommodate anything higher than thrift-store prices, you can afford a pair of these jeans! By breaking the mold of expensive designer clothing by combining affordable prices with quality, this hip-hop line has gone mainstream.

Other Options for Value-Priced Designer Fashions

Of course, Apple Bottom isn’t the only maker of designer fashions at low prices. While the tabloids continue to report how celebrities pay hundreds of dollars for jeans that look they came from someone’s garbage can, you can look completely put together for a fraction of the cost. For well under $100 a pair, you can fill your closet with choices from Sean John, Baby Phat, or COOGI.

Although some of these brands are still club exclusives, don’t be surprised to see them walk by at your local grocery store on someone who’s never even seen the inside of one of these establishments!

Whoever ended the old fad of covering a room in flower-printed, textured paper the thickness of shoe leather should be given a medal. And whoever thought of binding the fore-mentioned tarpaulin to interior walls with glue which eventually hardens and fuses the materials together should be strongly admonished at least.

Ask anyone who has considered buying an older home, or who has perhaps take the plunge into older homre restoration. It won’t take them long to walk into some quaint old piece of real estate, take one look at the navy blue and gold wallpaper in the stairwell and let loose a defeated groan.

That lackluster exclamation of despair is born of experience from the last time they were faced with 80-square-feet of rooster and egg wallpaper. Those ancient persons from the middle of the last century no doubt thought they were doing the right thing when they lathered those walls with paste and proceeded to slap up that paper blanket. They wanted the wallpaper to last, and they didn’t want it pealing off or bubbling up.

They probably never considered the homebuyer 50 years later, tasked with scraping, pealing, pinching and cursing the wallpaper down. For years the best method for removing wallpaper was finding an exposed edge and praying for a good pull. A spray bottle with water in it could sometimes help, often reducing the wallpaper to mush after enough spraying and scraping.

Blessed technology, however, has developed a few superior methods. For one; instead of spraying simple, mildly active water on that paper, try using a chemically specific spray you can purchase in most home improvement stores. The stuff inside is designed to work on the glue underneath the paper and will make removal a whole lot easier.

Another option is a paper scorer. The Paper Tiger, for instance, is great for thicker or painted over wallpaper where the spray can’t reach the glue.

Having wood floors can be a great asset to a home or even a business. For much of history wooden floors have not only been the practical solution, they have been the preferred solution.

Disallowing for a short period in the 1970s through the 1990s when carpet seemed chic, people have looked for wooden floors. The same is true now, only even more so. Watch any home repair, or real estate shopping show on TV and wooden floors will be a consistently sought-after commodity.

That said, wooden floors offer a few more considerations than some other types of surfacing. For instance, they can be scratched easier than tile, and they show dirt more than wall-to-wall carpeting. Wooden floors are also going to transfer more of the temperature from below than carpeting.

When purchasing an older home the likelihood of wood floors is actually very high, since that was a common building medium for homes through most of the last century. Many people will pull back carpet to find solid wood floors beneath, and they might be tempted to cover them back up when they consider the work involved in making them look good again.

If you do decide to refinish wooden floors in an older home there are a few important things to consider:

Treat larger stains and problem areas first.

Take up dried paint drops or other solutions with a putty knife.

Sand with the grain and only remove to the top layer of wood.

If using a radial power sander make to test a small area first to determine the power and roughness of the sand paper to use.

Use a color matched wood putty to fill gaps and gouges in the floor.

It is better to apply two or three thin coats of finish to a wood floor, letting each coat dry before the next, than it is to apply a heavy single coat of finish.

Saving money sometimes can take determination. It’s a skill many homemakers hone over the years and doesn’t come easy to some. Besides pinching pennies where normal expenditures like groceries and utilities are concerned, there are also the major purchases to consider.

It’s no cheap consideration to outfit a formal living room or dining room. And some people can’t settle for mismatched or apparently thoughtless rooms thrown together will all function and little or no form.

With just a little elbow-grease and some time, however, making any room in the house look like it was designed by a professional is possible without the high cost. A lot of the time a certain room might work but doesn’t because the finish on the different pieces of furniture don’t match.

That’s where staining and painting can come in. With so many varieties of color and mat available it’s suddenly possible to make a mismatched room match.

Finishing some wooden items can be a bear. It’s going to end up being a lot easier to just paint everything either uniform color, or perhaps two colors which compliment the room together.

However, for those who are willing to put in the effort the payout of stripping, sanding, staining and varnishing a nice wood item is typically worth it. Just remember when you are using paint stripper to remove paint to use it in a well ventilated area. If you are removing several layers of paint, let the stripper do the work by applying it with a brush or rag (USE GLOVES!) and then letting it sit for a bit. After that a putty knife and some steal wool should do the rest.

It may seem like a lot of work but older, solid furniture items which are brought back to life and reused are often them most cherished.

If you are thinking of doing a bit of redecorating in your home, but are concerned about creating more waste, you can be environmentally friendly while giving your living spaces a whole new look.

Here are five tricks to help make the old look new again.

1. Squeaky clean and brand-spanking new

Make your floors and carpets look brand new with a good cleaning. If your budget is too tight to afford a professional cleaning, there are many products you can buy that work as well, with a little more work.

Stripping a hardwood floor of old paint and then varnishing the floor will give it a new look. Use oils from time to time to nourish the wood, and it will look like new for a long time.

For homes with pets and children, there are rug-cleaning products safe to use that get the job done. Do your entire rug periodically, and use the spot cleaners when your furry friends and kids make messes.

2. Spruce up old chairs and love seats

Furniture covers come in all styles and colors. Choose fabrics with different colors and patterns that you can purchase at lower prices at different times of the year. No one will know how long ago you purchased those pieces.

3. Add inexpensive extras

Also available at reasonable prices, are cushions and pillows. They come in all sizes, colors, and styles so finding those that match the covers you used, will give the furniture a whole new look.

4. Tables and chairs

A new coat of paint on dining room sets and coffee tables is all you need to freshen up your old sets for a new look.

5. Throw something over it instead of throwing it away

Use a large soft rug or blanket to cover up your scruffy cozy sofa. You can always wash the covering.

Try to come up with other ways to refurbish what you have, instead of replacing the old with the new, which will be good for the environment.

Cutbacks, unemployment rates, stocks dropping- it seems as if most of the news you hear these days has something to do with the economy and its decline. More people are looking for ways to stay frugal than ever before. Having grown accustomed to living your life in a particular way and then suddenly changing the way you shop, as well as the products you buy, can be a shock to the system. There are a few ways that you can make these changes easier:
*Check online for coupon codes. Coupon codes can help you save big money. Some department stores offer stackable codes. This means, for example, that you can apply a 30% discount to your purchase as well as a coupon code for free shipping. On a $100 purchase, your average discount with this type of coupon combo would be $45. Quite a savings!
*Watch the trends. Stores have huge sales all the time. If the item you want is not on sale, simply wait a bit. Chances are it will soon be reduced. Try to find a coupon code for the item as well for double the savings.
*Shop around. Many designers sell their lines to more than one retailer. Compare costs, taking into consideration shipping and handling charges, discounts and applicable store purchase bonuses.
*Don’t go overboard. Cutting back on spending is similar to dieting. If you try to cut it all out at once, you will end up bingeing! Buy what you normally would, but take the time to find deal. Cut out the things that you won’t miss, and ease up on the extravagant purchases until the economy picks back up (along with your savings account).
You don’t have to skip that new pair of shoes, just make sure you are getting the best buy for your money. Hunting down a coupon code and making a price comparison might take a few minutes, but think of all the money you will save!

Shopping online is becoming more appealing by the day. The benefits include: no waiting in line, massive markdowns, competitive pricing and no digging through racks to find what you are looking for; what more could a shopper want? Well… maybe free shipping. Oh wait, you can have that too!
Searching for online deals couldn’t be easier. Retailers now realize that shoppers want quality products at reasonable prices. A quick look online will net you percentage-off discounts, free shipping and even BOGO (buy-one, get-one free) deals. Online deals and even coupon codes are available in abundance and it only takes a quick click to find them.
”’Shop Online To Save Money on Products and Services”’
*home accents
*linens
*electronics
*clothing
*shoes
*home repair
*auto insurance
*office supplies
*sports equipment
*media products
*much more
The list of products and services available at a great rate online is immense. Often times, you can shop from the comfort of your home, have the item delivered to your front door and pay less than you would have if you went to the mall. You can also comparison shop in a matter of minutes, whereas comparing store prices in person can take hours. So, your savings really go beyond the purchase price—you get to avoid large crowds, save gas money and optimize your time.
In today’s whirlwind that we call life, time is very precious. Shopping at the mall is not the relaxed hobby it once was. Saving time and money are more important now than ever before. Online shopping can help in both respects. People that do their shopping online are also more apt to stick to their list. When you are shopping in-store, customer service associates are consistently pushing new products, upgrades and samples. You don’t have to deal with that online. You can find what you are looking for, check out and then proceed with your day. This saves you time and money.

Getting a new job means updating your wardrobe. Shopping for new clothes and shoes can prove difficult when you are on a tight budget. There are many ways that you can stretch your dollar, as well as what you already have in your closet.
”’Online Sales”’
Check out your favorite retailer’s website. Online sales are a great money-saver. You can often find the same sweater online for half the price that you will see if you shop in-store. Stores that sell their products online know that there is a lot of competition out there. If you don’t find what you are looking for on your favorite retailer’s site at the right price, chances are that numerous other stores will have what you want at a better price! Look for coupon codes as well. Retailers issue coupon codes for twenty, thirty and sometimes even fifty percent off. Some stores will even accept other retailer’s coupon codes. The store’s coupon code acceptance policy can usually be found in the site’s FAQ section.
”’Make the Most Out of What You Have”’
If you can’t afford an entirely new wardrobe, then it’s time to go through the closet. Keep all of your basic pieces that are still in good shape. Donate or toss anything that was a passing fad, has rips, stains and tears, or no longer fits. Accessorize boring pieces that fit well, but do nothing for you.
-Add a cute scarf to a plain shirt.
-A beaded belt will dress up pants that are just a bit too blah.
-Remember that a great pair of shoes can do wonders for any outfit.
-Layering is always in style. Use mundane pieces as your base and then layer with a new jacket for a chic look.
Whether you use online sales to buy new pieces or spruce up what you already have at home, you will save money and still have a fresh look!

Your home is a place of comfort. You can go there after a long day at the office, kick your shoes off and relax. When your house is decorated in your own personal style, that makes coming home even better! If you feel that something is off, or if you’e just not happy with your home’s look anymore, maybe it is time to do some updating. With gas prices soaring, groceries through the roof and the school booster club running a fundraiser every month, where are you going to find the money to make you home “you” again?
Shopping online has become the answer for many people. You can find home decoration products on sale at prices that seem almost too good to be true. You can find virtually anything you want when you shop online. The best part of it though, is that you can set a budget, stick to it and, essentially, name your price. If the home décor item that you are dying to have is too expensive through one retailer, you are likely to find it cheaper just a mouse click away.
Home Shopping Tips
-When you have questions about the size of an item, it’s simple to measure out the space you are allocating to ensure a good fit.
-Colors can be a pain. You just painted the walls and don’t want your new painting to clash’ not an issue when the wall is sitting in front of you as you shop. Clashing won’t be a concern!
-You are less likely to buy items that you don’t really need. You have the opportunity to look around your home and use items you already own as inspiration for your new décor.
-If you are in the market for seasonal décor, try to shop toward the end of the season; stores are eager to empty warehouses and will sell items for a tenth of the cost in some instances.

Whether you are shopping for a birthday gift, new outfit, kitchen tile or even a studded collar for the new puppy, you certainly want to find the most economical deal. If you buy from the first store that you see and later find out that you paid twice what you could have, you won’t be very happy! Your best bet is to shop around. This can be time-consuming, and really, who has extra time on their hands? To save a lot of time and hassle, shop around online to find websites offering the product at the cheapest price. Once you find what you think will be the least expensive purchase price, be sure to add in costs for shipping and handling. One online store might have the vacuum you want for $150 plus a $30 shipping and handling charge. Another website might have the same model for $170 with free shipping. The second store is actually giving you a savings of $10, even though the sales price is higher.
No matter what store you shop at online, check to see if they accept coupons. Coupon codes are available for nearly any store on the web, from small startups to major corporations. Pay attention to expiration dates. These “virtual coupons” work in the same way as the kind you clip from the paper. There may be restrictions on use or other special instructions with the code.
To save even more on your purchases, be sure to sign up for the retailer’s email lists. Email notifications will go out to alert you to upcoming sales. Some stores may offer special opportunities for their online customers, such as a midnight sale or free shipping for orders placed on a particular date.
Saving money is easy with all of the online shopping options that are available.

A popular trend in home renovation today involves people using their imagination in making subtle or major changes in the home.

People renovate their home for many reasons. Adult children move out of their parents home. Additional space for hobbies or for home-based businesses is another.
Still another reason is a wanting a change of pace.

The possibilities are endless, once homeowners decide how much they want to spend on renovating their home. If there is not a lot of money to spend, imagination takes over. They then decide how much renovation is enough.

Some people think about how much time they spend in a room, doing something they love. Avid readers and writers love a bright, sunny room away from the rest of the house and the noise from radios and from the television.

If a home has a large enough attic, installing lights or windows can bring in enough light to turn the attic space into a quiet place to read, write, or to take a break in a quiet place. A table, lamp, and a comfortable chair will produce a reading nook or a place to write down thoughts.

Some people may consider radical changes, such as turning a bedroom or garage into a living room. Still others may think about placing furniture in spots where you least expect it. If space is available, placing a love-seat in the corner of a kitchen, or putting a chair in the bathroom may work double duty.

Homeowners can convert storage rooms that contain clutter into rooms for listening to your favorite music or watching television. Spaces in large garages can become a sewing nook or an artist’s studio.

If major renovation is what people are looking for, that may take lots of time and money. On the other hand, using imagination and creativity to renovate your home or areas within the home, is priceless.

When grown children move out of the house, many parents feel a sense of loss, commonly known as the empty nest syndrome.

Just as makeovers can do wonders for self-esteem, renovating your home can make it feel less empty and more comfortable for the adults left behind.

If, like most parents of younger children, a large portion of the living room area is filled with bookshelves used for books and toys, these can be transformed into showcases for personal style.

Whether a homeowner is an art enthusiast or a collector, they can fill the shelves with their treasures that they locked away in a safe place while little ones were running around. Perhaps they have an assortment of handmade items that they choose to display to replace a child’s art supplies or trinkets.

The beauty of hardwood floors can replace the wall-to-wall carpeting that worked when the children were small. A knickknack or painting bought at a flea market or art gallery can replace the baby doll or racing car calendar.

If reigniting the romance in their lives is something they consider after the children are gone from the home, soft linens, ruffles, and seersucker prints can make a room cozy and romantic. Add pastel coloring or floral patterns and it can bring back the time in a home owner’s life when the feel and look of the room outweighed the practical concerns of parents.

An adults-only home is a perfect place to bring out the fancy tablecloths and linens that parents packed away to avoid a peanut butter and jelly stain. Using the good china instead of the plastic and paper products can boost a parent’s morale after their children leave the home. De-cluttering is another way to renovate your living space, and donate to charity at the same time.

Renovation or re-decoration does not always mean tearing the home apart or spending tons of money.

Taking on any renovation project in the home can be daunting, but rewarding once it is complete.

One popular renovation for homeowners is the finished basement. Transforming a basement into a den or study takes some planning before any actual construction or renovation begins. If someone else will be doing the construction work, you still need to do some work of your own.

Finishing a basement requires a homeowner to ask, and answer, the following questions:

- How much space do you have to work with?

This is important because a basement normally serves as the area that contains the gas and water heaters and the laundry room facilities as well. After you decide how you are going to cordon off those spaces, you will have the size of the space you will be able to finish, in the basement.

- Is it really just the heat or is it the humidity?

Even if flooding or water infiltration is not a problem in your basement now, you may want to plan for the possibility in the future. Choosing the right floor, wall, and ceiling treatments to prevent or at the very least, cut down on possible water damage, is essential.

- Will you need to consult plumbing, lighting, or sound experts?

Depending on what you plan to use your finished basement for, you may need to call ahead for estimates.

If you plan to add a bathroom, discuss the work and money involved in this process with a plumber you know or one a friend recommends. If a place to read and study is the idea, you may need an electrician for rewiring. Recessive lighting might involve additional construction. If the rock star in the family will use the basement as a recording studio, soundproofing the walls and ceiling is something you may need to look into as well.

When you know exactly what you want in a finished basement ahead of time, working on making it happen becomes easier.

If money is tight and a small abode is all you can afford, you can still make the rooms in your home look as if they belong on the cover of an interior design magazine. Additionally, you do not have to spend exuberant amounts of money to make it so.

- Combine essentials

Furniture needs not cover every inch of wall space in small rooms. If you have a television, a stereo with speakers, DVDs and Cd’s, find an entertainment center that will accommodate all of these things. A separate piece of furniture for each will clutter up a small room and make it look even smaller.

- Mirrors

Placing a mirror high up on a wall in a small room, acts as an optical illusion and will make the room appear larger. A small room with a large window, decorated with light and airy curtains gives the feeling of openness and takes attention away from the small size of the room.

- Small rooms demand small furnishings

Measure the dimensions of a small room and take the tape measure with you when you go to shop for furniture. Buy small pieces of furniture for that room. The advantage to buying smaller furniture is that more often than not, smaller furniture looks more elegant.

- De-cluttering is key

Do not store or collect anything in a small room that does not have to be in there. You should only keep enough magazines and newspapers that will fit inside a small magazine rack. Moreover, only keep a few books on a side or coffee table.

- Go soft on walls and windows

Choosing a soft color on the walls is best for small spaces. If you prefer wallpaper, stay with small prints or patterns. To keep it from looking too plain, choose a patterned, darker color for the window treatments while keeping the walls one color.

The old adage, good things come in small packages, applies to small rooms, too.

Have you ever walked into a bathroom on some remote corner of the world and marveled at the tile you see? From the very intricate surfaces and shapes to colors previously unimagined tile has a tendency to represent a broad variety.

Because of that there are a great deal of options when it comes to decorating with tile. The most common is to choose one or two types of tile and lay it in sequence.

The very creative, however, see the individual tile with much more potential. That mauve tile with the gold fleck you once chuckled at while visiting Bangladesh might not be what you choose to put in the bathroom at home. It might also be just the right element in a beautiful mosaic tile landing, table top or back-splash.

Mosaics can be as complex or as simple as the creator wants, using either small and varied pieces, or large and similar sections. Be forewarned; the meticulous people out there are going to need a grinder and a pair of tile nippers in order to shape the sections and make them fit together just right. However, a general rule of mosaics is that they do not have to fit together just right. A major portion of their beauty is in the imperfections.

Whether you are placing the tile on the landing in a set of stairs or on a coffee table top, draw out the pattern, picture or design in marker before you get started. If you are mixing your bonding agent just mix a little at a time by hand, as it could be slow going at first getting everything to look right.

Also remember if you are placing broken tile on the floor you must smooth down sharp edges with either a tile file or the back of another piece of tile.
